How do you separate what is precious from what is vile?
Through the mouth of Jeremiah, God asks us to separate what is precious from what is vile, and it is up to us to do it. What is vile comes from sin: it is the natural life, the root of all conflicts. What is precious is the new man, the life of God received at the new birth. The message invites us to surrender to the Cross what is vile and to make the life of God our life.
This message is for you if…
- you feel a conflict within you between the flesh and the spirit
- you want to leave at the Cross what comes from sin
- you want to live as a child of God
Summary
What needs to be left at the Cross so that Christ's life can be expressed in us? In this evening message, Pastor Xutene Wanakaija reflects on Jeremiah 15:19 and the distinction between what is precious and what is worthless.
The pastor applies this distinction to the old natural life and the new life received from God. He calls believers to surrender the old life to the Cross and live from the life of Christ within them.
Galatians 5 brings the distinction into focus: hatred, anger, and jealousy stand in contrast to the love, joy, peace, and self-control that come from God's life. This is a call to spiritual discernment, surrender, and a daily walk shaped by the Holy Spirit.
